Summer Visitation Hours

Welcome to Homestead School

Mission Statement:

The Garden City School District seeks to create an environment for learning which enables each student the opportunity to grow as an individual as well as a group member while striving to achieve the optimal level of academic, social and personal success.

Students will thrive in a learning environment that is developmentally appropriate, individualized and challenging.

Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.

Random Acts of Kindness

 Front Cover
Over winter recess, students were invited to share and take pictures of themselves committing random acts of kindness at home and in their community. During an assembly students will view this wonderful slideshow of their classmates and Mrs. DeMieri, the school social worker will read the book, "Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler." by Margery Cuyler. The special area teachers have also been working with Mrs. DeMieri on a variety of projects to highlight the kindness and compassion of our students on the primary level. In each special class, students will be participating in lessons that encourage kindness and discuss ways to continue the school's bucket filler initiative. Classroom teachers also reinforce these ideas through literature and the Second Step Program. There is still time to send in a picture of your child committing a kind act, we will gladly include it in our 'Kindness Slide Show.' Please email your child's picture and a brief description of their kind act to demierij@gcufsd.net
